Photoshop.

After completing all of my university work early, I've been playing about with photoshop and my tablet. I took a carbon paper drawing and added some splashes of colour to make it a little more interesting. Now I've finished my first year of university, I'm going to try to keep up to at least one illustration a day. Hopefully this summer will be the start of portfolio building.

Final Book.

During my last unit of year one illustration, I have been busy researching into tea and tea wares ready to create a 12 double page spread book. For this book I used free machine embroidery, etchings and mixed media. These are some scans, page by page and in order of the finished piece.

Portfolio Contents Page.

I've just made myself a quick, A3 piece to go inside the front cover sleeve of my portfolio. Rather than sticking to a general plain A3 piece of paper with text, I thought I would add some detail just to make my portfolio me attractive. I added part of an illustration from the inside of the portfolio and repeated it underneath the text.

"Lipstick is usually made with fish scales"- Truth or lie piece.

"Orcas have their average life expectancy halved in captivity"- Truth or lie piece.

"The king of hearts does not have a moustache"- Truth or lie piece.

"Morte"- One word poster (death) piece.

Creating new meanings piece based on constellations.

Norwich University of the Arts.

Last week was my first week starting my illustration degree at Norwich University of the Arts. We have all been in workshops for most of the week and I have found myself becoming looser with my work and coming away from what I would normally stick to. I have even found myself enjoying the use of colour a lot more! Experimental mark making is the main object for the first term/10 weeks of my time at NUA, exploring different materials, ways of making marks, ways of drawing, different drawing tools and items you wouldn't normally think to draw with.
This weeks workshop involved creating our own unique drawing tools made of bits and bobs from around the house. We were set six different types of tools to create with our items (single line tool, multiple line tool, a tool which will scratch away a surface/layer, a blocking out tool, a smudging tool, and a brush tool), then we had to complete different drawing tasks with each tool. I will upload images of what I created and what I have done with them, explaining what they are and how they work.
