Hand Embroidered Tote Bags.

Recently I have been experimenting with different ways of drawing and creating new pieces of work. This week I have been hand embroidering this tote bag, I thought for my first one I would stick with something smile that doesn't have any curves. This geometric shape is something I have drawn before and thought I would be comfortable working with in this format. I stuck with simple pastel colours and used a dark grey for the outline, making the whole shape stand out. 

I am currently thinking up more ideas for more tote bags, these will go onto my etsy store very shortly as on ofd's. each bag will be lined with an embroidery stabiliser so when you're putting things in and getting things out, there will be no chance of you snagging a thread and ruining the bag!

Lino Printing.

A few weeks ago, I was packing up my house/room to move and came across a few spare pieces of lino which had never been cut. I put these to good use and made a bunch of prints, some leaf prints which are about the size of a standard bookmark, and some hannya mask prints which are roughly A5. Each print varies and has something different and unique about it, this is because each piece is hand printed (not printed using a press). I will be finishing the bookmarks in the coming weeks by making them double sided (red and black). These will be available later this week from my etsy here!

A few weeks back I found my graphics tablet which I had completely forgotten about. Now I have a whole bunch of free time during my uni summer break I thought it would be a great chance to get myself doing the things I used to love and haven't done in a very long time. I did a set of three potted plant drawings, a cactus, an aloe vera, and a venus fly trap. These were all similar in colour and style (including being drawn into the same style pot).

After completing all of my university work early, I've been playing about with photoshop and my tablet. I took a carbon paper drawing and added some splashes of colour to make it a little more interesting. Now I've finished my first year of university, I'm going to try to keep up to at least one illustration a day. Hopefully this summer will be the start of portfolio building.

I've just made myself a quick, A3 piece to go inside the front cover sleeve of my portfolio. Rather than sticking to a general plain A3 piece of paper with text, I thought I would add some detail just to make my portfolio me attractive. I added part of an illustration from the inside of the portfolio and repeated it underneath the text.

The Twinings Teapot Gallery.

During the last term of my first university year, I have been researching into tea and tea wares. The research I have collected has been used to create a 24 page, hand bound book. I gathered information from the Twinings Teapot Gallery, which is situated inside Norwich Castle Museum. The museum itself holds the largest collection of British ceramic teapots, over 3000 pots are based inside the museum.

I created a large series of development work, experimenting with many different mediums to see which worked best for the narrative I was trying to portray. I used etchings to create the basis of my illustrations for the final book, and added areas of paint and ink to make each piece different and more interesting.

I tried something new, combining the use of fine detailed hair drawing and messy but pretty ink splats. These will be up for sale in the next few weeks on my etsy store as A5 mini prints.

iPhone 4/4s Cases.

Today I have set up a pre-order for two different phone cases, both of which have drawings by myself on. The drawings I have chosen are the dotwork fox skull, and the digital sheep skull and floral drawing. Each phone case will be £15, and will be posted at the end of Febuary 2014.
