Dancing At Angles.

A few months ago, I was asked to pair up with a music event/night that happens every month in Norwich. I was asked to be the designer of the flyers for each night (every first friday of the month). This was very exciting for me as I have never had a chance to get together and create something (and so freely!). Each month so far I have come up with a completely different design idea for the flyers. I am also required to create the back of the flyer, this contains a quote for the month which is given to me by the promoter, address and details of the venue and a few links to pages at the bottom. Here are images of the flyers I have created so far, I'm looking forward to the coming months of flyer making, seeing what ideas I come up with and building a small portfolio.

Cactus Embroidered Tote Bag.

These photos show what is my second hand embroidered tote bag. I am a lot more pleased with the outcome of this bag, I feel it looks very clean and precise to how I had it planned. This bag was a lot more simple, it was a lot easier just to embroider sticking to one colour, I could continue to sew without having to change the colour for the next section.

Early 20th Birthday.

On Friday I received this beautiful printing press in the post as an early 20th birthday present from my Dad. It's just a tad smaller than A3 but its perfect for what I will be using it for. Need to stock up on lino and polypropylene for making all the pretty prints! Will be looking into buying some plain tote bags to lino print onto in the near future too!
In the last picture you can see the first etching I made using this press, so pleased with the result!

Birthday Card.

It was my dads birthday the other week and I made him this A5 drawing and popped it on a plain card. Cards are boring and drawings you can take off the front are fun.

Photoshop Illustration.

A few weeks back I found my graphics tablet which I had completely forgotten about. Now I have a whole bunch of free time during my uni summer break I thought it would be a great chance to get myself doing the things I used to love and haven't done in a very long time. I did a set of three potted plant drawings, a cactus, an aloe vera, and a venus fly trap. These were all similar in colour and style (including being drawn into the same style pot).
You can buy these illustrations as separate A4 prints or as a set of 3 A5 here.

Photoshop.

After completing all of my university work early, I've been playing about with photoshop and my tablet. I took a carbon paper drawing and added some splashes of colour to make it a little more interesting. Now I've finished my first year of university, I'm going to try to keep up to at least one illustration a day. Hopefully this summer will be the start of portfolio building.

Portfolio Contents Page.

I've just made myself a quick, A3 piece to go inside the front cover sleeve of my portfolio. Rather than sticking to a general plain A3 piece of paper with text, I thought I would add some detail just to make my portfolio me attractive. I added part of an illustration from the inside of the portfolio and repeated it underneath the text.

Zine pieces.

I was asked a few weeks ago to contribute two pieces to a zine. There was no theme, only that it would be printed A5 and black and white. I went with something I haven't done too much, but would like to get better at, small precise pieces of work in a Tibetan style. Here are the two pieces I made, may be up for sale as small prints soon.

Love Heart Snake.

I have found myself comin up with ideas more, little ideas that I will write down and make into something special, like this love wart snake. The idea popped into my head on a random evening watching the TV. I was asked to make Sonny something new and thought this was the best idea to go with. I am really with how this piece turned out, just from a simple idea in my head.

A5 Original Paintings.

I have recently sold quite a few of my A6 original paintings from my etsy store, so I thought I'd up my game and make some more detailed A5 originals. These are done on the same quality papers (recycled, cotton rag, 150gsm, acid free), just larger. Here are some examples of the first few. You can order these here.
