Birthday Card.

It was my dads birthday the other week and I made him this A5 drawing and popped it on a plain card. Cards are boring and drawings you can take off the front are fun.

Observational drawing at the UEA (University of East Anglia).

For today's workshop, we made our way to the UEA. Here we were asked to make 13 different drawings of around the buildings, the things inside the buildings, the architecture, etc. These drawings had to be based around the texture of the thing, angular drawings and drawings which show distance. We were also asked not just too use ordinary everyday materials, this meant using pencil crayons, colour marker pens and so on. I went on to draw a multiple amount of things but these two were the ones that really surprised me with what I can do. The first is an image of a small vase of flowers on a table top with a chair behind, I did this piece to portray how the chair was in the distance and in the background. I used complimentary colours in this piece. The second piece is the view from behind a Rodger Moore sculpture, looking in on the sainsbury centre. This image is also meant to show distance.

Black And White Drawings.

Recently I have found out that I rather like making completely contrasting black and white drawings. I have been experimenting with different ideas, where the background is black and any part of the image/detail is in white. To start off with, I found this to be a bit of a challenge, I found that the pens i was using were either too thick, or would bleed through the paper making the drawing a mess, and ruining the white in the drawings. After some experimenting, I have come to start perfecting this technique of drawing. Here are some of the images I have drawn using this technique so far!

Sketch to finished piece.

For the first time, I sketched down a simple little idea yesterday so I didn't forget it, and today I actually made it into something. It's strange because in always jotting down ideas but have never done anything about them. Must like this one in particular. Here is the final outcome, ghost/ghoul crying skull, (white paper, black acrylic paint, black marker pen).

Heinz.

I've been playing around with lots of different silly ideas and techniques recently for my new college project. Here is a small piece I've just finished. It's orange acrylic ink finger prints I've made into happy beans with a permanent marker. Sort of pun on hi/hey/hello and Heinz.
